SYNOPSIS

ABOUT TRICIA:
Tricia Goyer is the author of thirty books including Songbird Under a German Moon, The Swiss Courier, and the mommy memoir, Blue Like Play Dough. She won Historical Novel of the Year in 2005 and 2006 from ACFW, and was honoured with the Writer of the Year award from Mt. Hermon Writer’s Conference in 2003. Tricia’s book Life Interrupted was a finalist for the Gold Medallion in 2005. In addition to her novels, Tricia writes non-fiction books and magazine articles for publications like MomSense and Thriving Family. Tricia is a regular speaker at conventions and conferences, and has been a workshop presenter at the MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) International Conventions. MY THOUGHTS
After watching THE SHUNNING DVD, I knew that I had to read my first Amish novel like many of my church friends read and so when the opportunity came to review the book, I was quite pleased.
If you haven’t read BESIDE STILL WATERS, you will be able to read and follow along without any difficulty.
ALONG THE WOODEN PATHS is a well written fictional romance novel that is about an Amish young women dealing with various issues–love, traditions, prejudice, family and a relationship with God. Patricia focuses her writing on her characters along with a descriptive narrative of their Montana surroundings. The main character is Marianna and she must decide between choosing two men. Should be choose her long time Amish sweetheart or the friendly Englischer? As a reader, we begin to form an opinion of whom Marianna should choose and at the end we find out her choice. I will just say it wasn’t the man whom I would pick.
I’m beginning to enjoy Amish literature and I think you would enjoy this book too. Keep your eyes out for book three, BESIDE STILL WATERS.
