Wedding Basics

He proposed and you said yes. Now the fun really begins, and while it may start off with smiles and hugs it can quickly turn to stress and tears if you are not organized from the very beginning. So here is a simple wedding checklist of the most important basics needed to pull any wedding day off, keep those headaches under control and save some money in the process.

There are many things to consider for your big day; from the matching ring set to the bride’s dress to the groom’s wedding tuxedo and everything in between. In this economy it’s all about saving money but that doesn’t mean you should have anything taken away from your big day. It just means you have to find creative ways to save money for it.

Let’s begin with a little well known secret taking over the formal wear world; tuxedo rentals. There is no reason even the groom can’t be fashionable at the wedding but there is also no reason to spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars on a tux that will get worn the one time. Honestly, when is the last time you’ve seen a husband just lounging around in his wedding attire?

Renting a tuxedo for your wedding day is an upcoming trend that will give your groom the high style fashion you are seeking without the high style price tag. Companies are making it easier on the couple’s budget while still providing the fashion every bride seeks.

You have other things to worry about after all, like the rings, the reception cake, your own dress, bridesmaids’ dresses and even the flowers.

For the rings, find a local wholesaler that sells the same rings as the big chains but for reduced rates.

The wedding cake is almost as important as the dress but doesn’t have to cost that much. Opt for a local cake maker versus the retail bakery to save money. Maybe there is a stay at home mom in your area that makes cakes as a side business. Now, you’re not only saving money but you are also contributing to a small business owner.

When it comes to flowers, there is no reason going to the local craft store doesn’t work. Real flowers will last a day or two at best but using artificial flowers will not only save money but will also create long lasting mementos for your wedding party.

So again, consider a wedding tuxedo rental, shop for wholesale rings, find a local baker for the cake and use artificial flowers from the craft store to save money on your wedding day!
